Our hearts cry out: Why? #Pray4Paris

Eternal Father,
we are numb with disbelief and horrified
to see the recent depths of human depravity.
Our hearts cry out: Why?
To be honest, we don’t understand
and find it difficult to accept that such an atrocity should be allowed to happen.
Yet, crucified God, we believe that you weep with us,
just as Jesus wept over Jerusalem and at the death of Lazarus.
We know that this is not your will.
Surround your fragile world with your everlasting arms
and bring healing to all pain, and comfort to those who are grief stricken.
God of resurrection, may evil be overcome by good,
and let us not lose hope, as we pray for peace and stability.
Guide the leaders of the world, of all religions and races,
that they may be shown how to respond justly, humbly, and with mercy,
for the sake of the vulnerable and innocent,
through Jesus Christ our compassionate and loving Lord.
Amen
