Tongues are funny things to look at, Lord.
Who’d have thought that such a peculiar part of my anatomy could be so powerful.
Your servant James likened it to a fire —
it can rage uncontrolled and render religion worthless;
my tongue can curse or bless!
Jesus, I want you to be Master of all of me,
including my tongue.
By your Spirit grant me self control
and wisdom in all I do today,
that I may know when to speak
and when to draw circles in the sand quietly. Amen
