Many people today are asking big questions about life and faith – especially young people. It’s good that people are searching but, if we’re honest, some questions are tough to answer. However, the good thing is that people are thinking seriously about key issues, and want to grapple with them. It’s important that we support them as they explore these questions, and also think them through for ourselves. It’s all part of our spirit led search for the truth. I recently came across a site that seeks to inspire and equip young people to engage with the Bible and Christian belief.
The Evangelical Alliance is working in partnership with Capital Youthworks, CPAS, CWR, Damaris Trust, GroundLevel, Ignite, Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, Scripture Union, Wesley Owen and Youth For Christ to develop the essential project. Whatever your own theological leaning, I’m sure you will find this site a helpful starter when looking at issues.
“*essential” aims to support youth workers as they help young people explore the simplicity and complexity of Christian faith in a fresh, dynamic, life-changing way. I hope you will find it a useful resource. It’s designed to help young people get a good grasp on Christian teaching so their own faith is strengthened and they can converse effectively with those who don’t share their beliefs. It could also help you – whatever age you are! Why not take a look? Should you not agree with what you read, it will still encourage you to search the scriptures and seek what God is saying to you.
