The line-up for this year’s Church & Media Conference: Them and Us is shaping up nicely…
Imagine if we had a live comedy set as part of the conference? Well we have – sort of. Paul Kerensa (writer, Miranda) will bring us top-quality comedians to make us laugh and explain where they draw the line when it comes to bitching about famous people.
We’re nothing if not eclectic. BBC religious affairs correspondent Caroline Wyatt will host a debate with Ed Husain (Tony Blair Faith Foundation) and others about radicalisation and our responsibility as media professionals to understand the effects of news coverage on communities in the UK.
We’ll hear from Stephen Timms MP, Cole Moreton (author, Is God Still An Englishman?), Dr Eliza Filby (author, God And Mrs Thatcher) and ITN newscaster Julie Etchingham about the last 30 years in British politics, and consider whether personal faith in public life is back in fashion.
Speaking of fashion, we’ll examine body image and beauty with Christians who work in lifestyle magazines. We’ll hear from people at the top of their game, and help each other find connections and inspiration. And you’ll have the opportunity to meet with people working in journalism, commissioning, content production, PR, communications and digital media, in facilitated networking sessions.
If that wasn’t enough to get you to book right now … we’ll be announcing a name next week that will surprise just about everyone…
Stay tuned.
We’d encourage you to take advantage of the £70 early bird discount that closes at the end of August and book your tickets now.
We’d love to hear who you would like to see at this year’s event, so why not tweet us at @churchandmedia with the hashtag #ThemAndUs15?
This year’s conference will be on Tuesday, 13 October, at the RSA in central London.
We look forward to seeing you at the RSA.
