I have been inspired today by Brian Draper’s Lent40 reflections.
Today Brian quotes from Richard Rohr’s book ‘Immortal Diamond’ and asks his readers to open their eyes to look for the ‘the infinite, the positive, the good’. Surely this is a countercultural way for God’s people to live in these clockwatching and cynical days. More specifically, I pray it may be my way for today and the future.
As I take Brian’s advice in my Lenten quiet time and focus on the ‘the infinite, the positive, the good’, I’m overwhelmed by the fact that I’m surrounded by demonstrations of love, generosity, and grace. It’s clear to me that to be transformed by love, it takes a conscious effort to really drink love in. Only then can I break the magnetic power of selfishness, godlessness and negativity that can so easily absorb.
A Maasai saying quoted by Michael Meegan in his book ‘All will be well’: ‘May you see what you see through different eyes, may you hear with different ears, may you taste what you have never tasted and go further than yourself.’
