Jazz Communion Service 30/1/11 6.30pm Methodist Central Hall, Westminster

Tony Miles and the King/Cave Project will be leading a Jazz Communion service at Methodist Central Hall, Westminster. this Sunday evening, 6.30pm 30th January 2011.  This is the first time we will have held such a service.  There’s a warm welcome to  anyone who is interested in attending.

The King/Cave project has quickly established itself on the London jazz scene and within the church, inspired by the Nordic worship concept “Thomas Mass”.

Here in Britain the musical landscape is full of barriers, the church music scene as much as any scene. We’d be fooling ourselves to think we could break them down. But there’s a gap in every hedge: you can always sneak through, maybe take a friend through too. Cave & King, who met when studying literature at Cambridge University, come from quite different places: Cave’s first “band” had been a cathedral choir, King was raised among the Bedfordshire Strict Baptists. The King/Cave project is all about finding ways to marry traditions like those.

Tony is a Superintendent Methodist Minister, broadcaster and author. He is a radio presenter with Premier Christian Radio and a regular contributor to BBC Radio 2's Pause for Thought (5.45 am). Tony is married with two children and four grandchildren.
