Thanks to Tom Ambrose (Churches Advertising Network) for letting me know about The Advertising Standards Authority’s “consumer” conference in Bristol on Thursday 30th November. I’m not sure if I will be able to attend, but I thought others may be interested. Among other things, the ASA conference will debate advertising around religion. If you have a view on advertising content, you may wish to attend this free event which will take place at the Watershed Media Centre. You’ll even get a complimentary lunch.
The ASA’s web site says, ‘The ASA hopes that people of all ages and walks of life will attend. Last year’s event was a great success, with over 60 members of the public taking part to have their say. Feedback from the event was very positive, with one attendee saying they found it “very informative and interesting” and another commenting on the “relaxed, atmosphere” and “friendly discussions”. In the past, sessions have proved particularly popular among religious groups, teachers, parents, community workers, local businesses and others representing consumer interests.’
