Gracious and Compassionate God,
like the disciples, we feel helpless in the face of ferocious storms.
We cry out to You to help all whose homes and neighbourhoods that have been blown apart by hurricanes,
washed away through torrential rain and flooding,
or shattered by earthquakes.
May Jesus, with us in the midst of it all,
grant shelter and protection –
especially for the most vulnerable.
Let there be courage for the fearful;
healing for the broken-hearted;
comfort for the bereaved;
wisdom for community leaders;
generosity for those supporting their neighbours,
and strength for those helping to rebuild devastated communities.
Lord God, in your mercy, bring order out of chaos,
and let there be healing, peace and a new beginning.
Amen.
